Etsy Obsessions: Dreaming of Hobbiton

I Love You Like A Hobbit Loves Second Breakfast – 8×10 Typography Print by Tie Dye Jedi, $16

It’s Wednesday, you know what that means, right?  Yep, the time has come for me to show you some awesome Etsy finds that make you want to spend money!  Yay?  =)

This week I am, not only,  inspired by the impeding release of The Hobbit but also because I have been feeling a bit like a hobbit myself lately.  There are certain times in life where we all want nothing more than to retreat to our very own hobbit-holes.  A safe place to be ourselves,  free from stress and worry.  Well, real life doesn’t often allow for such flights of fancy… but internet shopping does.  So, behold what’s behind the green, round door.  Continue reading

Episode 24 – The Hunger Games

Spring is here, and what better way to start than watching teenagers savagely murder each other on national television?  Better yet, there is The Hunger Games!  If you’ve been living in a cave you might as well stay there because it’s all about Katniss, Peeta, and The Capitol’s greatest spectacle.  Join the Monkey in the Cage crew this week as they discuss their thoughts on both the book and the film while also being thankful for not starving and fighting to death.  Impress those Gamemakers, get plenty of Sponsors, and be sure to watch out for those Tracker Jackers if you plan on surviving this week’s episode on The Hunger Games.  May the odds be ever in your favor!

Avengers Goodness

The newest trailer has been released for The Avengers and here it is:

Holy crap!  That gave me chills!  I should note that this is the UK trailer.  They retitled the movie Avengers Assemble due to already having a television series called The Avengers and they also have a different release date than the US.

Joss Whedon's The Avengers is set to release May 4, 2012

The trailer wasn’t the only lovely little Avengers tidbit released this week.  The official movie poster is out too.  Check out the Photoshopped madness as our favorite superheroes all stare in seemingly different directions.  I especially love how Cap is acting too cool for school while everyone else looks ready to kick ass.

Official Trailer: Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope

Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope release date TBA

There has been buzz about Morgan Spurlock‘s Comic-Con movie for a while now and here’s your first look at the trailer.   Producing the project are Stan Lee and Joss Whedon and Spurlock and directs.  The trailer features Eli Roth, Seth Rogan, and Kevin Smith.   It looks like the movie will be a great look at the Con of all Cons:  San Diego International Comic-Con.

First Scene from The Amazing Spider-Man

The Amazing Spider-Man set to release July 3, 2012

When I first heard that they we doing a re-boot of the Spider-Man movies I, along with probably every other comic book movie fan, let out a groan.   It just hadn’t been long enough to warrant a re-boot.  Then I saw X-Men:  First Class which I had similar feelings about and I was completely blown away.  So I started rethinking my initial reaction.

After seeing the trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man I have to say that I think that this movie could turn out being really good.  I enjoyed Andrew Garfield in The Social Network and I think Emma Stone is awesome, Easy A and Zombieland were both fantastic.  So, naysayers be damned, I am going to be see this movie.

Below is a the first look at a clip from the movie.  It’s short and doesn’t have any action in it but it does show Garfield’s portrayal of Peter Parker rather well.  While I liked Tobey Maguire in The Cider House Rules and Brothers he was never my idea of who Spider-Man should be.  From this scene and the trailers I can tell that Andrew Garfield will be playing a better Peter Parker/Spider-Man than Maguire.  He’s better portraying how lovably hopeless Peter can be and he has that smart-mouthed bravado that the the webslinger is known for.

Do I lose “geek cred” for wanting to see this movie?
