Are you exhausted? Because we sure are! 2012 turned out be a geek’s best friend and it didn’t matter what your nerdgasm of choice was, either! Be it movies, gaming, television, comics, or whatever else, 2012 surely did deliver… and there are absolutely no signs that 2013 is going to do any less. Hell, it’s probably going to do more! Join us this week as we gather around the mics and discuss what “got our geek” the most in the past year. Prioritize your superheroes, stock up on convention passes, and be sure to try out a bit of the meatloaf as you settle in for a brand new episode of Monkey in the Cage!
Zombies. Zombies, zombies, zombies. They are everywhere these days. They’re on your TV, they’re in your movie theater, they show up at little kids birthday parties (true story), but what is it that makes these mindless flesh-eating killing machines so appealing? Join us this week as we look at the zombie explosion that has taken over pop-culture like a … well, like a horde of zombies! Lock the doors, board up those windows, and remember you can drink the water from the toilet tank if you need to , as we talk Zombie-mania on a whole new episode of Monkey in the Cage.
One of my favorite things to do here on the site is feature independent artists. I think it’s important to support creativity in any way possible. Whether it be a simple compliment when something speaks to me, purchasing prints, or a small feature or shout-out here on the site, I try to do whatever I can to encourage people who follow their passion and put themselves out there. There is one particular designer/illustrator who is near and dear to us here at Monkey in the Cage…
Another Comic-Con has come and gone, and the Monkey in the Cage crew is WORN OUT! Even with back-up and thorough planning, tackling the awesomeness that descends on San Diego every year proved to be more challenging and rewarding than ever, and we weren’t even on the floor (legitimately)! Join us this week as we are once again joined by our favorite intern, Jared the Intern, and artist/illustrator extraordinaire Dennis Salvatier to recap all of our experiences outside of the convention center. Gas up the Batmobiles, throw back a couple of beers, and don’t let those zombies get you as we talk SDCC 2012 on a brand new episode of Monkey in the Cage!
Well, it’s Monday. If you are reading this article, it means that you are still alive, and you should probably be thanking me. With the close of San Diego International Comic-Con 2012 also comes the stopping of a serious viral zombie outbreak in the greater San Diego region. Despite all the fan fare, comics, cosplay, and celebrities that abound every summer at the San Diego convention center, hands down the biggest and best attraction was AMC’s The Walking Dead Escape, conducted at PetCo Park. It’s likely you’ve already heard all about it, but I’m here to give you my “survivor” experience… because I saved your life (true story).
It’s almost here! We’re just over two weeks away from international Geek Mecca, San Diego Comic Con 2012! The panels, the parties, the comics, THE SWAG!!! We can’t wait to get out on that show floor and tear it… oh yeah, we weren’t able to get passes this year. BUT WAIT! We know people who did! Join us this week as we are joined once again by The David, our Comic Con guru, as well as the oft mentioned “The Girlfriend” (aka Amanda) as we discuss some tips and tricks for surviving four days at SDCC, both inside and out. Gas up the Batmobile, pack extra underoos, and watch out for hobos (true story) as we prepare for four days of awesome geekdom on a whole new episode of Monkey in the Cage.
