Why Halflings Aren’t Hobbits

Bilbo Baggins

For decades, the image of Bilbo, Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin were the sole representations of what a hobbit/halfling was.  Naturally, this characterization became the standard for the original run of Dungeons & Dragons canon.  From the player character race and art to the wealth of literature (R.A. Episode 67 – Remakes We Want to See

i-really-hate-it-movie

We all know Hollywood is pretty much out of ideas.  Nowadays, it seems like 90% of the movies hitting theaters is either some sort of remake or reboot, likely of something that has already been remade a couple times before.  The awesome and epic story-tellers and directors (Looking at you, Nolan and Whedon) seem to finally be getting their chance to really shine, but studios are just too afraid to take a chance on those unique indie projects waiting in the wings, so it looks like we’re stuck with the likes of Michael Bay, Joel Schumacher, and Brett Ratner.  Join us this week as we discuss the movies that we actually want to see remade (because it’s going to happen eventually), but only if someone with talent can do it!  Wipe your classic memories away, burn up those original scripts, and whatever you do, don’t even think of Transformers as we discuss our remake picks on a brand new episode of Monkey in the Cage!

Why I Hate Elves

Elves Are Better Than Everyone

Okay.  Maybe hate is a strong word, but the fact of the matter is that I REALLY DISLIKE Elves, likely to the point of hate.  First off, it’s a matter of principal for me, seeing as I absolutely love Dwarves, however, let’s delve deeper in to the seething fury I hold against the fairest of the heroic folk.  Sure, I may have played an elf character once, but I may have been drunk, or blackmailed, or in need of heavy doses of medication… but that’s beside the point.  The following are my (Dwarf-minded) opinions and mine alone, and if you take offense or have a problem with, I’ll be happy to introduce you to my axe…
