Episode 76 – Heroes: Part Deux

magneto-anyone-can-be-a-hero-demotivator
So, way, way, WAY back in Episode 8, we here at To-Ag Studios talked Heroes and Villains.  Seeing as the Monkeys still had their podcasting training wheels on, we approached two very broad and interesting topics with the reckless abandon of Hulk and Wolverine on a bender.  So now, 68 weeks later, we have reconvened our Monkey council in order to once again discuss the hero figure and why we love them.  Draw down your cowls, make some therapy appointments, and get your butt out of retirement as were headed for round 2 to discuss Heroes (NOT the show) on a brand new episode of Monkey in the Cage!

Where Are We Now? – Maps, Tabletop RPGs, and You

As I’ve been working through the backlog of Gamerstable podcasts, a recent episode on maps in gaming really got me thinking of their importance and impact on me.  While I am definitely no cartographer, I think that, when given enough time, motivation, and printer ink, I can churn out some decent gaming maps.  Not only do I try to make the maps aesthetically appealing, I definitely make a concentrated effort to provide a utilitarian tool for my players as well.

Changing it Up – My Switch to a Different System

I have long touted myself as a devout d20 system player, and never for the life of me could I imagine straying away from the rule-set when it comes to running a game.  Sure, I’m completely open to trying new systems out as a Player, but as a GM, it might be safe to assume that sticking with the rule-set you know best is likely to garner the most success when it comes to running a campaign.  Well, boys and girls, in my quasi-masochistic journey of redefining myself as a GM and Gamer in general, I have decided to break ties with the d20 system I know and love and venture into rules of a more “savage” variety…
