If you’re a gamer and a geek, then undoubtedly you’ve amassed a grand collection of wondrous treasures, from boxes and books to cartridges and discs. While some of these items may be considered mundane or even relics of geek ages long past, we all know that it goes against our very nature to part with such great gifts of enjoyment, even if we’ve never taken the shrink wrap off yet! Join us this week as we delve into our geek closets and discuss games of all types – purchased, played, and otherwise. Clear off the table, charge up those controllers, and for God’s sake read some damn instructions as you prepare for a brand new episode of Monkey in the Cage!

What would things be like if D&D stood for Deficits & Depressions, where we all played as corporate money-launderers and greasy politicians in the high stakes world of corporate finance? Thankfully, we don’t have to think of such horrid things! Join us this week as we discuss the heart and soul of gaming and geekdom, fantasy settings. Swash your buckles, sheathe your swords, and definitely gird your loins for this week’s discussion, because it’s coming at you like at 10d6 fireball!
The New Year is finally upon us. 2011 brought some good times for us here at Monkey in the Cage, namely the birth of our wicked cool podcast (that’s for any fans we may have in Boston). But, as awesome as 2011 was, 2012 is going to be a thousand times better. This year is going to be a geeks dream year come true – everything from video games and movies to conventions and podcasts. Like everyone else, we look forward to the new year and what it brings, but at the same time, we can’t help but take a nostalgic trip down memory lane.
This week, as everyone is looking forward, we’re looking back. Join us as we talk about the a crap load of things from our childhood and adolescence that we both love an miss. Be it cereals, tv shows, cartoons, or professional wrestling, nothing is off-limits as we babble on and on and commit the cardinal sin of dating ourselves and feeling old. Let your ears take a listen and your mind reminisce on the things that helped make us the geeks we are!
We have arrived! In this, our inaugural episode, we introduce ourselves to the podcast listening world, offering insight into our geek pedigree’s, gaming interests and touching on a host of inside jokes. We welcome all of you out in internet land to start joining us in our weekly discussions on gaming, geek culture and everything in between. Sit back and relax as we here at Monkey in the Cage make a valiant attempt to entertain you, the gracious listener.
