What’s up party people! It’s Friday, which means it’s podcast day, and we’ve got a special one this week, just for you all. Join your hosts Matt, Robert, The David, and The Girlfriend as they talk about all manner of nonsense and what-not purely for your entertainment! Crack open a cold one of whatever it is you plan to drink, because you’ll likely need it to make through a brand new episode of Useless Drivel – A Podcast Without a Point!
Just when you thought we were gone, we’re back at it! Two weeks of not recording due to important life issues wasn’t enough to convince Robert and Matt to throw in the towel, so they saddled up to the mics and hit record for your listening pleasure. You’ll be pleased to know that the two week lay off did absolutely nothing in the way of improving the quality of the show, but hey, if you wanted quality… let’s just say you know what you’re getting. Strap in and relax as the Awesome Mix that is Useless Drivel washes over you like the irradiating power of an infinity stone!
This month I turned the big 3-0. To combat my feelings of getting utterly old, I decided to buy myself an early birthday gift. So on New Year’s Eve I finally broke down and bought a shiny new Wii U. Like many people my age, I’ve been a huge fan of Nintendo since my childhood. Jumping on goombas, shooting virtual ducks, and unearthing hidden tunnels with bombs was just part of growing up. While I don’t necessarily play that many video games these days, anytime Nintendo releases something new, I get that excitement that brings me back to sitting on the floor of my grandma’s living room playing my NES for hours on end. Having spent some time with the new console, I wanted to toss out my thoughts on the system and some of its features.
We all love being “in it” when we’re around the gaming table with our friends. Whether it’s slaying dragons, hacking supercomputers, or saving any number of fantastical worlds from nefarious villains, there comes a time to pack up the books, put away the dice, and get back to the humdrum routine of real life. However, the fact of the matter is that when we leave the gaming table, the gaming experience goes with us.
Join us this week as we discuss the ways in which gaming influence us away from the table with our special guest and long-time friend, actor Louis (Louie) Carazo. Catch him in theaters March 16th in the new Will Ferrell comedy, Casa de mi Padre, but first, take a listen at how gaming has influenced the Monkeys when they aren’t roleplaying it up!
The New Year is finally upon us. 2011 brought some good times for us here at Monkey in the Cage, namely the birth of our wicked cool podcast (that’s for any fans we may have in Boston). But, as awesome as 2011 was, 2012 is going to be a thousand times better. This year is going to be a geeks dream year come true – everything from video games and movies to conventions and podcasts. Like everyone else, we look forward to the new year and what it brings, but at the same time, we can’t help but take a nostalgic trip down memory lane.
This week, as everyone is looking forward, we’re looking back. Join us as we talk about the a crap load of things from our childhood and adolescence that we both love an miss. Be it cereals, tv shows, cartoons, or professional wrestling, nothing is off-limits as we babble on and on and commit the cardinal sin of dating ourselves and feeling old. Let your ears take a listen and your mind reminisce on the things that helped make us the geeks we are!
