Would you believe that Robert and Matt actually convinced someone to record a podcast with them? Neither could they! The guys are joined this week by Mike Olson, lead designer of the Atomic Robo RPG, and man, is this guy living the dream! Tune the world out and flip on your geek-dar, because it’s about to get all sorts of awesome in your ears. From Action Scientists and Dinosaurs to Brainstorms and Vampire Lucahdores, prepare to be amazed by a brand new episode of Useless Drivel – A Podcast Without a Point!
SPOILERS INBOUND!!! WE REPEAT: SPOILERS INBOUND!! It’s been one hell of a week for fans of a certain Competition of Chairs television show. Aside from all that, though, your hosts Matt and Robert are bringing it to you this week with some fine meandering discussions meant to amuse and confuse. From manly tears and science fiction to all manner of exploding body parts, this week’s show is chock full of nonsensical goodness. Relax and enjoy, because it’s a brand new episode of Useless Drivel – A Podcast Without a Point!
Another week, another podcast, but this week it’s totally different! Not only are Matt and Rob joined in-studio by not just one, but two guests, they actually have something to talk about! Now, we know the listening audience seriously can’t get enough of the regular non-coherent ramblings of the hosts (what is wrong with you people), but this week it’s time to change it up. Listen along as the guys are joined by JiB and Gina of Happy Jacks RPG Podcast fame in a discussion on character advancement in RPGs. You’ll definitely learn something, just not from the regular hosts. Rarely accurate, but mostly timely, it’s time for another episode of Useless Drivel!
Unfortunately, the gods of labor and employment (aka my bosses) made it impossible for Robert and I to get together this week to record a new episode of Useless Drivel. However, in an attempt to make good on a personal New Year’s resolution, I’m writing this post as a way to not only breathe some new life into the site, but also to keep the geeky goodness flowing until the next podcast. 2013 was a super busy year, but it was most definitely a rewarding one for this gamer. How rewarding? Well, I guess you’ll just have to keep reading to find out!
Gamers want to feel immersed and invested in the games they play and run. Now, while this responsibility can be shared by Players and GMs alike, it will almost certainly falls on the shoulders of the overburdened GM. Bringing something unique and memorable to the gaming table – be it a prop, ambiance, or even food – will definitely stay in the forefront of the Players minds, unlike useless details such as “Where are we?” or “What are we supposed to be doing?” or “What was the name of the guy that hired us?” Join us this week as we welcome our special guest, MITC listener and fellow podcaster JiB of the Happy Jacks RPG community to talk about techniques to help bring a game to life. Strap on a HazMat suit, clean out your test tubes, and be sure to have a plan as you get ready for an all new episode of Monkey in the Cage!
NPCs; they are the lifeblood of any adventure, campaign, or gaming world. Sure, the story is created by the actions of the Player Characters, but without NPCs, who would the heroes turn to for help, sell all their (sometimes ill-gotten) treasures off too, or shiv prison-style in a back-alley for some easy XP? Join us this week as we jump back almost two decades to discuss some of the memorable NPCs – allies, adversaries, and otherwise – from our epic AD&D 2nd Edition campaign! Ready your fantasy cellphones, lock down that split-personality disorder, and for the sake of your family take out a life insurance policy as you prepare for an all new episode of Monkey in the Cage!
