Earlier this year, many of us participated in, or were at least aware of, a Kickstarter event to help place the history of one of our favorite hobbies on film. I was so excited by the prospect I ended up being the third person to put money to the project and certainly spent a fair amount of time and energy promoting it in my own small way. The reason for my fervor had a lot to do with my love for documentary film, and that love of documentary film can be traced back to one solitary yearly event, the True\False Film Festival.

Well, it’s Monday. If you are reading this article, it means that you are still alive, and you should probably be thanking me. With the close of San Diego International Comic-Con 2012 also comes the stopping of a serious viral zombie outbreak in the greater San Diego region. Despite all the fan fare, comics, cosplay, and celebrities that abound every summer at the San Diego convention center, hands down the biggest and best attraction was AMC’s The Walking Dead Escape, conducted at PetCo Park. It’s likely you’ve already heard all about it, but I’m here to give you my “survivor” experience… because I saved your life (true story).
It’s almost here! We’re just over two weeks away from international Geek Mecca, San Diego Comic Con 2012! The panels, the parties, the comics, THE SWAG!!! We can’t wait to get out on that show floor and tear it… oh yeah, we weren’t able to get passes this year. BUT WAIT! We know people who did! Join us this week as we are joined once again by The David, our Comic Con guru, as well as the oft mentioned “The Girlfriend” (aka Amanda) as we discuss some tips and tricks for surviving four days at SDCC, both inside and out. Gas up the Batmobile, pack extra underoos, and watch out for hobos (true story) as we prepare for four days of awesome geekdom on a whole new episode of Monkey in the Cage.
Whilst perusing the interwebz yesterday, I happened upon the announcement of some of the Comic Con Exclusives that will be offered this year. I was giddy to see both the DC Polly Pockets and the Mattel Tiny Titans toys.
Then I realized that my ass will be stuck outside the Convention Center– badgeless. So unless I can convince some unwitting convention-goer to obtain these awesomely cute items for me, I am out of luck. Then I remembered that I am great at finding unique items and that Etsy is my best friend.
Behold, friends! Prepare for geeky cuteness that you can purchase right here, right now! That take, “Exclusivity!”
I have been anxious to see Comic Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope ever since I heard the internet chatter some time ago. So, when I saw that it was available for rent through Amazon Streaming I clicked away my $6.99 and spent my (slightly extended) lunch break in Nerdvana.
I actually try to avoid doing reviews here at MitC, mainly because I feel like opinions are like a-holes and well… you know the rest. But, I suppose it’s sort of my job to let the readers and listeners know my opinion on… stuff. So, here goes…
