If you’ve ever listened to an episode of this show, then you know the Monkeys here at To-Ag studio are a nostalgic bunch, especially when it comes to gaming. Join us this week as we talk about our experiences in the gaming generation and our take on how games have evolved in the relatively small span of 30 years. So, hire yourself a running coach, check out your fat-lympic ranking, and bow before King Joffrey as you prepare for a brand new episode of Monkey in the Cage!
NPCs; they are the lifeblood of any adventure, campaign, or gaming world. Sure, the story is created by the actions of the Player Characters, but without NPCs, who would the heroes turn to for help, sell all their (sometimes ill-gotten) treasures off too, or shiv prison-style in a back-alley for some easy XP? Join us this week as we jump back almost two decades to discuss some of the memorable NPCs – allies, adversaries, and otherwise – from our epic AD&D 2nd Edition campaign! Ready your fantasy cellphones, lock down that split-personality disorder, and for the sake of your family take out a life insurance policy as you prepare for an all new episode of Monkey in the Cage!
Which decade was the best decade? That’s right, it was the 80’s…. NOT! Sure, the 80’s may have been aiight, but back in the day, we were all that and a bag of chips. Don’t believe us? Well guess what, homeslice, you’re hella wrong! Join us this week as we take a trip down nostalgia road and talk about all the things that were totally dope when the MITC crew first started hangin’ and things were off the heasy! So quit your trippin’, listen up to what the dillio is, and get ready to talk to the hand, scrubs, as we give mad props to our favorite decade on a brand new episode of Monkey in the Cage! Peace out!
Being a geek is an investment in time, money, and most importantly interest. But what happens when the time isn’t available or the interest isn’t there? With so many things to keep up on, past and present, it can often be difficult to stay on top of what-is-what and to be as informed and exposed as possible. Join us this week as we reveal some of our personal shortcomings in geekdom. Whether it’s geek-centric things we flat out don’t enjoy or haven’t had the pleasure of getting our hands on, we all come clean on our holes in the geek game. Don’t be hatin’, but get your hate-mail ready (and remember to send it to Matt) after this week’s episode of Monkey in the Cage.
I’ve played video games for most of my life, starting with the original NES back when I was 9 years old. It all started with the Nintendo Action Set which included the system, two controllers, the zapper, and a game cart which had Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt. This was the beginning of a long journey of systems and games.
The New Year is finally upon us. 2011 brought some good times for us here at Monkey in the Cage, namely the birth of our wicked cool podcast (that’s for any fans we may have in Boston). But, as awesome as 2011 was, 2012 is going to be a thousand times better. This year is going to be a geeks dream year come true – everything from video games and movies to conventions and podcasts. Like everyone else, we look forward to the new year and what it brings, but at the same time, we can’t help but take a nostalgic trip down memory lane.
This week, as everyone is looking forward, we’re looking back. Join us as we talk about the a crap load of things from our childhood and adolescence that we both love an miss. Be it cereals, tv shows, cartoons, or professional wrestling, nothing is off-limits as we babble on and on and commit the cardinal sin of dating ourselves and feeling old. Let your ears take a listen and your mind reminisce on the things that helped make us the geeks we are!
