It seems like not that long ago, the characters on our favorite TV shows were untouchable.  Sure, most have been far from infallible, some not even remotely likable, but they definitely seemed to be somewhat immortal.  Then, one day, writers go this great idea that killing important characters in dramatic fashion wasn’t just good entertainment, but good story-telling, so the fans could cray all they wanted, because, you know… ratings!  Join us this week as we discuss some (but definitely not all) of the TV show character deaths that have made a lasting impact on us, the viewers.  Grab you box of tissues, play some sad background music, and maybe even get some confetti poppers ready as we talk TV character deaths on a brand new episode of Monkey in the Cage!

I’ve Fallen for… Gravity Falls

Gravity Falls, Friday nights on The Disney Channel

The televisions in our home seem to be exclusively on Disney Junior and The Disney Channel.  Occasionally, the adult-like folks can sneak in more mature fare when the boy is distracted by other shiny objects.  Or we learn to love what the House of Mouse is airing.  There really are some great shows for kids like Doc McStuffins, The Octonauts, and Jake and the Neverland Pirates.  There are also the inane ones that mom and dad hate but baby seems to love like Secret Agent Oso (most.inept.secret.agent.ever.) or Chuggington (if I hear, “Traintastic” one more time…)

One new show quickly became a standout and, in my opinion, is a wonderful addition to The Disney Channel animated line-up.  That show is Gravity Falls.

Brave – A Modern Fairy Tale in Medieval Clothing

This past weekend saw the release of the newest member of the Pixar family of animated films, Brave.  The story of an independent young princess finding her place in a world of tradition, the biggest question looming among fans and critics alike is does the movie hit the mark?  Well, this is one reviewer that thinks it has.
