The world is getting smaller.  We hear it so much nowadays that the statement has become totally cliché, but it’s the truth.  While the immediately world is getting smaller because we are all inevitably getting fatter, it’s really the internet’s fault… and we couldn’t be happier!  For those geeks out there who remember the pre-modern internet world, it wasn’t always so easy to get your geek on!  Join us this week as we discuss the impact that this new-fangled internet fad (it’s a flash in the pan, trust us) has had on geeks and geekdom at large.  Fire up that 26.6k modem, plug in that AOL free-trial CD you got in the mail, and whatever you do, don’t let anyone pick up that land-line as you sit back and plug-in to a brand new episode of Monkey in the Cage!*

CHAOS!… oh, and Alchemy

Every now and then you’ve got some time to kill with your buddies.  For me I like to have small, easily accessible, (and better yet quick!) games at the ready for such an occasion.  Not to mention that rare perfect moment when your plane gets delayed and you find yourself talking with a few gamers who recognized your RPG book and suddenly an opportunity to play something has arisen!  For me the game I often have at hand is Chaos and Alchemy.  If you haven’t heard of it don’t feel too bad because its new on the gaming scene, but after I give you the lowdown I encourage you to check this perfect time killer out and you’ll be turning lead into gold in no time!

One Wonder To Rule Them All: 7 Wonders

When I was younger I was always fascinated by ancient cultures and the amazing things they built. I loved watching those old TV shows that would try to explain how the pyramids were built, or how the Druids of Stonehenge must have had some advanced technology to get those stones in their spots. Here we are now with me at a much older, but I am still enthralled by those ideas, and now I get to build these ancient wonders with a deck of cards, a wonder board, and some cardboard tchotchkes.
