Another Comic-Con has come and gone, and the Monkey in the Cage crew is WORN OUT! Even with back-up and thorough planning, tackling the awesomeness that descends on San Diego every year proved to be more challenging and rewarding than ever, and we weren’t even on the floor (legitimately)! Join us this week as we are once again joined by our favorite intern, Jared the Intern, and artist/illustrator extraordinaire Dennis Salvatier to recap all of our experiences outside of the convention center. Gas up the Batmobiles, throw back a couple of beers, and don’t let those zombies get you as we talk SDCC 2012 on a brand new episode of Monkey in the Cage!
(12:56) – We allow Jared the Intern on the mic once again to recount how awesome we all are… and then he washed all of our cars… and bought us lunch. – Disneyland, Sea World, and dolphins are jerks.
(14:48) – Karen “The Sunburn Queen” brings us more awesome Marvel news, courtesy of Comic-Con and our comic guru Dennis. – Thor: The Dark World, Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man, and Iron Man 3′s villain is revealed!
(19:34) – Dennis Salvatier: So Talented, So Busy – RAW: Natural Born Artists Radiate Show
(22:09) – It’s topic time! We were blown away by the number of people and all the great stuff that was accessible outside the Convention Center in the Gas Lamp Quarter and how it compares to the “Nerd River” of the sales floor.
(28:24) – Geeks gotta eat, hot service industry workers, amazing art galleries, and Batmobiles… ALL OF THEM! – The Field Irish Pub, the Chuck Jones Gallery, DC’s Darkness and Light Gallery, and the Batmobile Documentary. Plus, Guardians of Middle-earth had the best tent ever!
(34:42) – Robert talks about the @Xbox Lounge, Ramses and Jared get their Red Bull fix courtesy of Django Unchained, and IGN takes care of it’s fans. Plus, Matt deep throats Robert’s Big Stick… True Story.
(37:39) – Jared offers his perspective on being a first time Comic-Con visitor and we discuss on how much you can actually see and miss in the grand spectacle that it is. – Captain America, The Walking Dead Hyundai, and Iron Man’s Mark 8 Armor. Plus Steampunk everywhere!
(43:11) – We discuss the most awesome event outside the convention, The Walking Dead Escape. Matt ran solo and died while Jared sacrificed himself for Ramses and Dennis, the MITC Crew saved Grant Imahara’s main squeeze, and Robert’s “The Girlfriend” partners with other outcasts.
(59:13) – Robert and Matt discuss the awesome opportunity to sit down and have lunch with none other than Keith Baker, the creator of Eberron, and we field test Dennis’ work with our logo while we promoted the show. – The RealmCast and Penny Arcade
**A Special Thanks to Nicholas De Los Reyes… Whoever you are, your loss was our gain.**
