Being a geek is an investment in time, money, and most importantly interest. But what happens when the time isn’t available or the interest isn’t there? With so many things to keep up on, past and present, it can often be difficult to stay on top of what-is-what and to be as informed and exposed as possible. Join us this week as we reveal some of our personal shortcomings in geekdom. Whether it’s geek-centric things we flat out don’t enjoy or haven’t had the pleasure of getting our hands on, we all come clean on our holes in the geek game. Don’t be hatin’, but get your hate-mail ready (and remember to send it to Matt) after this week’s episode of Monkey in the Cage.

The concept sounds way cheesey but you’ll end up loving it. It made me like Matt Smith. I was sobbing like baby afterwards. Maybe it’ll open you guys up for the Doctor.

Yes, Justice League: Doom is based on Tower of Babble. I will lend it to you. Do you know why he’s the sh*t? Cause he’s Batman!
Awesome! I figured that it had to be based on an existing arc. Thanks! =)
@David I really want to give Doctor Who a shot because so many people can’t be wrong, right? Well, they were wrong about Twilight… =P What season should I start with??
Alas, this is one geek that does NOT like the newer Dr. Who. I am forever a Tom Baker fan. As for BSG, I have issues with the re-boot that stem from something other than my Nerd soul. Katie Sackoff is hot, but I’ll take the old BSG thank you. How about Robotech? Any of you ever watched that series?
As for Big Bang theory, I think your dislike might be akin to why a lot of native new yorkers I know, don’t like Sienfeld. Regional reference and proximity. I’m still workin’ on that theory though….
I used to love Robotech when I was a kid, I remember when Cartoon Network started playing it and I was so excited to start watching it again. I think I liked it better when I was younger. =/
I want to give Doctor Who a try AND watch Battlestar Galactica, it’s just hard to find the time. I watched some Robotech as a kid, but honestly, can you go wrong with giant Mechs??
I agreed with alot of what you guys said, but seriously Robert, no Hobbit? As for Big Bang Theory, the laugh track really bothered me too, but since I started watching it again last season I’ve really grown to like it. Mayim Bialik’s character Amy Farrah Fowler is a real treat too.
Now Karen says she doesn’t like Sci-Fi, but are you a fan of Firefly, being a Whedonphile?
Wes- I have to admit that Firefly is not my favorite Whedon creation. I love the characters but, truthfully, I can take or leave the setting. I’ve only watched Firefly once through whereas I’ve watched Buffy, Angel, and Doctor Horrible countless times. I don’t consider myself a Browncoat. =/
Super fun ep, Monkeys!!!!

Though I don’t think it’s as good as Lord of the Rings.
Just wanted to share my two cents.
Robert, you should give The Hobbit a try.
Ramses, thanks for encouraging Matt to read Harry Potter!!! Too bad it won’t happen.
Half of the podcast is not insane about Star Wars?!?! I’m so confused!!!
I’ve never seen an ep of Dr. Who but have friends who RAGE about it. Would like to see… someday….
I MUST see Battlestar Galactica!!!!! It’s Joss Whedon’s favorite show!!!! But, like you guys said… TIME!
I know my sister loves The Goonies and I know I saw it in the 80s but have no memory of it and no feelings towards it one way or another.
I lived for Saved by the Bell when I was a kid.
The Big Bang Theory Rocks. I <3 Sheldon Cooper!!! Surprised Monkey Matt didn't say more about our adoration for that show.
And, oh, New Girl! I'm a super huge fan!!!!!!!!
Keep up the awesomeness guys,
Nikki (AKA Matt's mythical wife)
PS – Karen, I didn't know you weren't a self-proclaimed Browncoat!! :-O
